Hi! I’m Spencer, I had a big dream — to grow giant pumpkins that can tip the scale at over 1,000 pounds.
My love for gardening started when I was just four years old. It began with a single sunflower on my windowsill… then a pot on the porch… and before long, I had a raised garden bed in the backyard. When my neighbor’s cows once broke through the fence and trampled my garden, I was crushed — but not defeated. That setback inspired me to rebuild something even bigger and better.
Today, my garden has grown to over 4,500 square feet, with raised beds, vegetable patches, and of course… a giant pumpkin patch!
Fruits and vegetables are great — but for me, pumpkins are the ultimate challenge. Especially giant ones.
In 2024, I planted my first competition pumpkin. I had one seed, some soil, a lot of research… and a ton of perseverance. Since then, I’ve learned how to:
- Feed and water appropriately
- Measure and track growth accurately
- Heal plant wounds and treat fungus
- Track weather patterns
- Fight pests
- …and stay patient through all of it!
But growing giants is about more than just plants. It takes determination, grit, and a willingness to keep learning.
Keystone Giant Pumpkins isn’t just about one pumpkin. It’s about chasing something big — and bringing others along for the ride, and helping others to grow great things too!
